The year that Beth Klingensmith realized she made more than her husband, she remembers joking with him about it, making light of a competition neither took seriously.
Richard H. Freund had it all planned out: He’d work until he was 70 and his wife, a psychotherapist, turned 62.
Exit of American troops from Iraqi province leaves U.S.-allied tribal chiefs bitter, afraid.
The unemployment rate hasn't topped 10 percent since June 1983, but it could return to that painful level soon - possibly as early as Friday, when the Labor Department issues its monthly jobs report.

Your comment regarding the billionaire shows just how shallow your thinking is. Do you need a stepladder to get out of your shoes at the end of the day?
Tim in CA said "if our self worth is all about our net worth we will surely be prisoners to it."
It is not the material things man (gender neutral) has but the character within that counts. One can give away millions to charities and not be charitable; i.e., doing it for show. While one can be penniless and yet have great charity; i.e., in his heart, giving of himself.
Look around you and study the current attitudes of our society. Our god has become money and our religion has become "Me-ism." "It's all about me!!!" Me, me, me, mine, mine, mine. I ask "what is your purpose in life?" and get the stare of a deer caught in the headlights of an automobile.

Those that spew snide remarks about the man because he was a billionaire are just as much a snob as they claim the wealthy to be. Having skimmed through the comments, I don't recall anyone saying that he may have been distraught because so many people that depended on him were going to loose their jobs and/or everything they had because of his wrecklesness. Of course, I could have missed it. In the end, it will be the Great Architect of the Universe that will be his judge. May God have mercy on his soul.
